quote of the week

today we were discussing our halloween costumes and arguing about the weapons of each ninja turtle and as serious as he could be, my husband just said this with much enthusiasm:

"you arguing with me about ninja turtles is like me arguing with you about panties!"

classic.

megan and carson's wedding weekend

after 6 years of dating, one of my best friends, megan, finally married the love of her life, carson. it was the sweetest wedding i have ever been to, and it was so absolutely beautiful.

this whole weekend was so fun starting on thursday. all the bridesmaids from out of town arrived thursday and we all went to eat at molly fontaine's lounge. then we got a hotel room, went back there, and had a lingerie shower/birthday party for megan (her birthday was the 16th).

at the hotel, buzz revealed her "party pack" that she had for all of us which included a t-shirt and mix cd she made. our shirts had our nickname on the back and "the party" on the front. megan's just had a "B" on the front and medders on the back. thanks buzz.

friday morning we had to get up early and go over to ali's mom's house for a bridal luncheon. it was so wonderful and relaxed and we sat around after and talked for hours. then all the bridesmaids went back over to megan's mom's house and lounged around, did our nails, and got ready for the rehearsal dinner.

we rehearsed, had dinner at chickasaw oaks, and then went to blue monkey for some fellowship. we all went back to megan's mom's to spend the night and hang out some more.

saturday morning we slept in, ate breakfast at megan's mom's house, and got ready for the wedding. it was at midtown church and the reception was at memphis water works. it was so personal and fun, and it was so great to see all the people who were there that i hadn't seen since my wedding or since i graduated. i just wanted all my friends to stay and live in memphis. not to mention how happy i am for carson and megan. a bunch of people went for one last hurrah at young avenue deli after the wedding which was great, and we had our first 2 guests (holly and buzz) stay in our apt last night. all around, this weekend was some of the most fun i have had in a long time.

these were the only pictures i took (the other bmaids will probably add some to facebook soon)

happiness is my grandparents lake house

we got to go to the lake last weekend, and it was so wonderful! my mom, ryan, and i left thursday night after work and clayton (my brother) was out of school friday, so he came up thursday afternoon when he got out of class.

it rained all day friday so my mom, my grandmother, and i drove to batesville, ar for some antiques and fabric. on our journey, we stumbled into a delicious little nursery selling of course mums and other fall plant life. this town is so quaint that there wasn't even a person at the nursery to pay. you just wrote what you bought on a piece of paper and left some money in a bowl. there is where i bought these great gourds to decorate my table for fall, and some dried chinese lanterns just to have around and look awesome.

then it was on to the biggest fabric store in the world. i think it really is; it is the size of a walmart store with nothing in it but fabric. it is amazing and the prices are less than half of what we pay for fabric in memphis. my sweet sweet grandmother bought me some wonderful fabric to make curtains for our kitchen and bedroom. i think the total for 8 yards of this really good fabric was maybe 16$... unheard of.

bedroom curtains (bad picture, sorry)

kitchen curtains
another close up/bad picture (for some reason the fabric looks off white, but it's really mustard yellow)
back in cherokee village, we ate some incredible meals, played a great game of phase 10 (my granddad won, he always does), cleaned out closets, played with trusty, watched football, sewed, watched movies, and just loved being together. it was such a wonderful weekend! i never want to leave there.

sniff sniff

yes, it's true... i was on the news this week. but, oh no, i wasn't doing anything cool or even wearing anything remotely cute. i was sucking the h1n1 vaccine up my nose at work. i sniffed it not once but twice, and looked absolutely ridiculous doing it. the only cool thing about it whole situation is that i was one of the first 100 people in the country to get that vaccine...ever. maybe i'll be in the guinness book of records or something.

in other news, i have another project to display. it's an apron i made for a girl at work that is getting married at the beginning of november. this pattern was another of lotta jansdotter's from her awesome sewing book that i own. the coolest thing about this apron is that all of the fabric i used (except the pocket) was my grandmother's from the 70's. she probably made my mom some totally groovy bellbottoms with this fabric.

it's really hard to take a picture of your own waist with an iphone.
hope you like it nakia!

i made something else

i made pillow cases for some pillows on our couch. i got this fabric at jo ann (love it) in the sale bin and it really looks good with all the things in our apartment.

i'm always shocked when i love something that i made myself. i guess i secretly didn't think i could do it, or i think it will look so awfully home made that i won't be able to use it. anyway, i'm happy with how these turned out.

anybody need some pillow cases? i'll make you some :)

ps: we went to the pink palace crafts fair today and i LOVED it! it will always remind me of elementary school, because we took field trips there every year. the weather was great, the food was great and the arts were GREAT! we're going back on saturday to buy a hammock that we fell in love with. everyone in and near memphis needs to make the trek there this weekend.
